Joining St. Anne’s
We often get asked what needs to happen in order to “join” our Church. The short answer is you just need to show up! We welcome anyone and everyone to join us for worship on Sunday mornings or at any of our church activities. We understand that first and foremost, membership in the Church means being part of a community that is drawn ever more deeply into relationship with God through Jesus Christ.
However there can be more to it than that. For those who are interested in making a formal commitment of membership to the Episcopal Church, and St. Anne’s in particular, you are invited to speak with the rector about this commitment. To be a member in the Episcopal church, we need to have a record of your baptism on file. If you haven’t been baptized before, the clergy will work with you to prepare you for baptism. To be a voting member of any Episcopal congregation in the Diocese of North Carolina, one must also be confirmed or received into the Episcopal Church. During your conversation with the clergy, this topic will be covered as part of your discernment about joining St. Anne’s. This is an exciting time and the clergy will walk with you every step of the way.

Is there something missing that you would like to start? If so, let’s talk- there is a place here for your gifts.
Stewardship
The whole world is a gift from God. As Christians we are compelled to acknowledge this by maintaining and sharing the abundance of that gift through intentional, regular and generous stewardship. To be an intentional steward is to develop a plan for your giving. To be regular in your giving is to follow through with that plan weekly, monthly, or yearly depending on your abilities. And to be a generous giver is to recognize the abundance of God’s grace and gifts. To learn more about how you can give financially to St. Anne’s click HERE.
Annually, we ask members to participate in a pledge drive, by completing a pledge card. This pledge card is your commitment to support our church community – worship, staff, buildings, activities, nursery care, grounds, dinners, picnics, and so much more. Besides our annual pledge drive we also extend the opportunity to everyone to share gifts, talents and finances seasonally by teaching our youth and children, singing in the choir, serving on committees, welcoming our neighbors, participating in Laundry Love, the Big Chill, Back-to-School Day, the Blessing Box, Freedom School…the list goes on.
This is a two-tiered approach to stewardship. The first tier (the pledging) meets the immediate expenses of our shared community and determines the budget that the Vestry approves for the next year. The second tier allows us to extend God’s love to one another and to the world in ways that are especially meaningful to us as individuals. The goal is to allow the Vestry to establish a reasonable budget that reflects our on-going gratitude for God’s gifts and the resources we can share.
